Verifying data integrity is key to ensuring the performance and reliability of high data rate networks such as 8.5 Gb/s Fibre Channel where physical signal quality is crucial to the success of data communications.
The Xgig® Bit Error Rate Tester (BERT) greatly reduces manufacturing test time for hubs, host bus adapters, Fibre Channel RAIDs, and other active or passive devices by stressing all components in the data path. It verifies data integrity using industry-standard worst-case bit patterns which are specifically designed to stress the physical layer of the system, checking frequency response and data dependencies. Unique data patterns can be created to meet special test requirements, eliminating tedious hours of testing looking for a data dependent error which occurs only rarely in a normal traffic stream. As the Xgig® BERT is ?protocol aware?, it recognizes data modifications allowed by devices on the link, such as add/drop, and does not complicate testing by reporting them as errors. With bit-by-bit comparison, any difference between transmitted and received data is detected, counted, and captured for additional analysis and presenting results in an industry-accepted format. The Xgig® 8.5 Gb/s FC BERT is based upon Finisar?s industry-leading Xgig® test platform, a versatile and comprehensive solution for generating, testing, and analyzing live traffic across all major high-speed storage protocols.
